FEB 11, 2023 WINE CLUB MEETING:  BLIND TASTING CABERNET SAUVIGNON We welcomed new members today: Faye, Alyssa & Una. We had a lovely evening chatting, nibbling and tasting the following Cabernet Sauvignons.  Most were from California. Nobody brought an Old World Cab Sauv…they were all New World wines; but that’s okay.  We learned a lot!   I modified our blind tasting process:  I covered the bottles with foil and affixed numbers on them. Then we tasted them individually; revealing the wine at the end after we had some time to take notes and chat about it.  It was a relaxing, enjoyable evening and I learned what I liked: the Decero and the Stave & Steel were particularly yummy to me.  Which did you enjoy the most?   WINE #1:  2017 DECERO CABERNET SAUVIGNON Read all about the wine from the winery’s website here . Linda brought this wine to the blind tasting.   2017 DECERO CABERNET SAUVIGNON, REMOLINOS VINEYARD 2017 Decero Cabernet Sauvignon has classic notes of cassis and some che

INAUGURAL MEETING: CHARDONNAY DAY Our first wine club meeting in August, 2022 was a success! The theme was Chardonnay and we tried various Chardonnays from around the world. We learned a little bit about the chardonnay grape and how terroir and the vinification process affect the wine we drink. More importantly, we met some new wine friends and had some fun with the tastings in a casual atmosphere. Thank you everyone for participating by finding a chardonnay and bringing some munchies to go with the wines we tasted last time. I hope you enjoyed the whole process! NEXT MEETING:  OCTOBER 29, 2022 Let me know if you can make the next meeting asap so I can organize a bit.  If you want to bring a new guest to the club, that’s great too…let me know who/how many so that I can ensure I have enough glasses/chairs at the table.  THEME:  PINOT NOIR. I will include some notes about the grape in this newsletter below if you’re interested; but you don’t have to read it or use it to inform what you

ABOUT

We’re a private wine tasting club consisting of a group of Vancouverites who enjoy a nice glass of wine. Our premise is tasting new wines that we ordinarily wouldn't be able to on our own. Through our wine club we are able to try wines that are off the beaten path. Our meeting structure is simple: bring a new bottle of wine and some food (snacks/appies) to share amongst the group that fits into the theme of the day. There are no membership fees and you don't have to show up for all the meetings. The wines that are brought by the members will be tasted blind and in pairs so that we can appreciate each without preconceptions. A tasting template handout will be provided should you wish to record any tasting notes on wines that you enjoyed (and wines you didn't). At the end of the meeting, we determine a rough date for the next meeting and participants can bring home any leftover wine from bottles we haven't finished. We’re casual and unpretentious in this wine lear
