OCTOBER 29, 2022. Pinot Noir day!
We had 4 Pinots in the lineup this rainy October day.  BF brought a lovely complex Pinot from Everything Wine for $30.  The Port Barrel Aged 1925 Limited Edition “Gnarly Head” Pinot Noir from California (2020).  The wine was aged in Port barrels, which imparted a lovely complexity. It was a med bodied Pinot with spicy notes. Vivino rating: 4.0

LK brought to the table the Te Kano Kin Pinot Noir from the Central Otago region in New Zealand (2019). This was purchased on sale at [BCL for $31.00 but is currently on sale for $29.99; reg $34.99] This Pinot requires a longer time to open up.  We initially thought it didn’t smell or taste very strongly of anything upon first sipping it.  However, after aeration and standing for a while, the Pinot became more complex.  The nose was raspberry and cherry and the palate was more elegant; with light tannins and cherry notes.  It definitely would do well with aeration or decanting.  Vivino rating:  4.1

The View Single Origin Pinot Noir from the Okanagan Valley (2019) is a light bodied Pinot JU/JR brought to us from BCL for $26.49.  The nose was of strawberries and red fruit and the palate was high acid with raspberry notes.  Vivino rating: not rated yet

Meiomi Pinot Noir from California, 2021 was brought to us by BL/KM and it goes for $29.99 at the BCL. The Pinot was more fuller bodied than some of the other Pinots of the evening.  As it comes from a warmer region, the aromas and palate were of darker berries like blackberry, strawberry jam, raspberry and black cherry. Vanilla notes come from aging in French oak barrels for 6 months. Vivino rating: 4.1
